Job Description

Job Title: General Manager - Pet Store We are seeking a passionate and results-driven General Manager to lead the daily operations of our pet store. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail management, team leadership, and customer service, along with a genuine love for animals. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of store performance including staff supervision, inventory management, sales growth, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for pets and their owners. Key Responsibilities: Lead, manage, and motivate a team of sales associates and pet care specialists Ensure outstanding customer service and a knowledgeable, friendly in-store experience Oversee daily store operations including opening/closing procedures, scheduling, and merchandising Maintain appropriate inventory levels and manage ordering, receiving, and stocking of merchandise Ensure proper animal care standards are followed, including feeding, habitat cleaning, and health checks Implement and monitor compliance with store policies, safety procedures, and company standards Track sales, labor, and expenses to meet or exceed profit goals Develop and execute marketing and promotional strategies to drive traffic and customer engagement Conduct staff training and development to ensure product knowledge and operational excellence Resolve customer concerns and handle escalated issues promptly and professionally Qualifications: 3+ years of retail management experience, preferably in the pet or specialty retail industry Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Working knowledge of POS systems, scheduling tools, and inventory software Passion for animals and commitment to responsible pet care Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred) Schedule & Compensation: Full-time position Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed Competitive salary with performance-based incentives Benefits may include employee discounts, health insurance, and paid time off Additional Details: Seniority level: Mid-Senior level Employment type: Full-time Job function: General Business Industry: Retail #J-18808-Ljbffr Executive Leadership Solutions
